Power/Religion conference paper proposal … with a difference

Things are looking promising for the Power/Religion conference, to be held in Helskinki and St. Petersburg on 10-15 September. How do we know? An early paper proposal has come our way and we are debating furiously among ourselves as to what to do with it:

Title of Presentation: The New God is On The Way

[name and contact details withheld]

Affiliation – Cross Country University

Men and women scour the globe to find God. Everywhere, people hunger for a personal experience of God. Sadly few are lucky enough to learn that the living God is right inside of them.

Demonstrating the power of the dreaming mind

The development of the God-Image is an unfolding process and should not be confused with the term God. To describe how humans perceive God asserts nothing about the nature of God’s existence. The image of God, or our definition of him is dead for us, although the word is a name for something which was for past generations alive in the highest degree. This highest value has got lost. Historically, there are several major stages in the evolution of how people perceive God: Animism, Matriarchy, Polytheism, Tribal Monotheism, Universal Monotheism and the final stage I call the “God Within Us.” Human perception of God has changed throughout the centuries.

Demonstrating the power of the dreaming mind to present the future God-Image, C.G. Jung, the great Swiss Psychiatrist came to me in a dream and told me who God was. It was nothing I had ever read (on the advice of a Jungian analyst, I contacted the librarian at the San Francisco Jung Library who had an extensive knowledge of Jung’s writings. She told me he never wrote that but it was probably something he believed!). Several dream seminar participants have also shared dreams, which indicate how humans may perceive God in the future.

Dreams not only look back they look forward also and anticipate what the dreamer’s future growth may be. Jung did not mean that dreams predict the future but suggested what possibilities the future may hold, something like a plan roughed out in advance. Basically what Jung emphasized about dreams was their attempt to unite consciousness and the unconscious in a healthy harmonious way.

Jung also stated that dreams could have a collective meaning, which can be true for the dreamer but also relate to others as well. Certainly a search for God is.

Many novel ideas about the new God-Image and why consciousness is evolving in this direction will be presented as well as many dreams from dream seminars along with their paintings that will contribute to a better understanding of the New God-Image. This presentation will demonstrate the power of the dreaming mind to recognize how humans will perceive God in the future. I will project paintings of dreams on a screen(I have a digital projector) and proceed to relate how dreams can only tell the truth because they are pure nature and nature doesn’t lie. A discussion of the dreams will occur during the presentation. At the end, I will ask those who have had dreams about the nature of God share and discuss them.

What I will share will could revolutionize the way your members think.

      1. I suspect you won’t be impressed by someone writing a paper in which Jung appears in a dream. However, I’ve had dreams in which Keynes, Marx, Churchill (!), various reprobates from my undergrad days, etc, have appeared. I’ve also had a dream in which I climbed K2 without supplementary oxygen, backing up the great Reinhold Messner.

Would you and your colleagues accept a paper from me on the numinous experience represented by some of these dreams?
