  1. I have never been to Romania. It seems that a lot of its population are desperate to leave, to start new lives further west. It will be interesting to see what you discovered there.

    1. Much of that has to do with the deliberate deindustrialisation of Romania after 1989. Many viable industries were bought up by Western European firms and promptly closed down, creating a new source of low-cost labour. About 2-3 million Romanians have to work outside the country, sending the money home.
